This site's primary interest is to compile sources, documenting the diverse influences of (and those influenced by) the Grateful Dead. This is accomplished by pooling together quotes and anecdotes, to hopefully create another American melting pot. I take no ownership of this pot--the research is not mine. This is, by all means, a secondary, and even tertiary, source. There are many books, written and researched much better than my project, from which much of my information comes from. I am merely receiving the pool.
I have done my best to cite the proper folks and pay tribute where due, with the exception of what you might call "basic Wikipedia knowledge," information so common its available on Wikipedia, e.g. the fact that Art Tatum played the Great American Songbook. If you're a Deadhead, it is "basic knowledge" that under Bear's management, the boys were only allowed to eat things that bleed, namely, red meat.
